Hibernian Community Foundation and the Scottish FA are pleased to announce the appointment of William Kirk as Community Coaching Development Officer to be based at Hibernian Football Club?s Easter Road Stadium.? As Development Officer, Kirk will work across Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders to deliver a wide range of football development projects across key areas of the Scottish FA?s vision for quality growth in football participation and performance for all ages.
A qualified Advanced Youth Licence and UEFA ?B? licence coach and Manager of the Hibernian Ladies teams, Kirk will be responsible for coach education and will build and lead a team of qualified coaches to work in schools and across local football clubs to improve player performance and increase playing opportunities.? This community coaching development is another significant milestone for the Hibernian Community Foundation ? adding football development in the community to its portfolio of other activities which include the Hibernian Learning Centre, ?men?s health and fitness initiatives,? employment support for the long-term unemployed and disability football.
Kirk says:? ?I am really excited about this opportunity. This is a new role in the Foundation, which means we have the potential to have an immediate impact.? The direction comes from the Scottish FA?s Scotland United 2020 vision, and tying this in with increasing Hibernian FC?s community interaction creates a lot of scope for development.? I am excited to get my teeth into it and start making a difference.?
Willie Kirk joins Operations Manager Stewart McGuire and Executive Director Kris Von Wald to form the core delivery team for community activity aimed at harnessing the power and passion of football to improve learning, health and opportunity and making a real difference in people?s lives and in local communities.
