2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

We know Lincoln is planning to launch seven refreshed or completely new models between now and 2014, the first of which is expected to be the redesigned MKZ sedan due late next year, but achieving such a feat is no easy task.

We?ve already seen Ford establish a crack team of 85 staff?to sort out Lincoln?s woes, as well as formally request that dealers start upgrading their showrooms at a cost of $1 million each. Now Ford is reportedly putting its money where its mouth is, by injecting $1 billion in its ailing luxury brand.

According to dealer sources, Ford is predicting Lincoln sales to reach as much as 150,000 units annually by 2015. This year the brand will be lucky to hit 80,000 units.

They also reiterated previous claims that the new Lincoln models would all be based on regular Ford platforms, though they will be differentiated more by their styling as well as technology and powertrains.

In addition to the new MKZ, a compact Lincoln based on the C-platform underpinning the Ford Focus, a compact crossover and a mid-size crossover are all expected to be among the seven new or refreshed Lincoln models.
