Judge dismisses antitrust lawsuit against Mattel

(AP) ? A federal judge has dismissed an antitrust lawsuit against Mattel Inc. brought by the makers of Bratz dolls.

In a ruling filed Thursday, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter in Santa Ana, California, dismissed the case without prejudice. That means the fashion doll makers at MGA Entertainment can still file an amended lawsuit.

MGA has already been awarded nearly $310 million in a prior lawsuit after the judge found that Mattel stole MGA's trade secrets. Mattel is appealing that decision.

The latest suit brought by MGA, which makes the pouty-lipped Bratz dolls, alleged anti-competitive conduct by Barbie-maker Mattel since August 2010.

The judge had issued a tentative ruling last week dismissing the suit. He said it was based on the same facts as the prior litigation.
